Dolly's long-suffering TV-producer son Stephen tries to keep them on track, but as long as Dolly's dressing room is one inch closer to the set than Isobel's, it's a losing battle, and the show becomes a rating smash as Dolly and Isobel top both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer! As part of their first-ever U.S. tour, Divadlo z Pasaze (Theatre from the Passage) from the Slovak Republic will bring their original performance Diagnosis: Desire to San Antonio. Ensemble members of the theatre are individuals with mental challenges and profound learning disabilities recruited from Slovak state mental institutions. In addition to performances, the company will conduct residency activities with community groups.
Diagnosis: Desire presents five seemingly unrelated stories in which adults confront not only the world around them but also their childhoods. The central character is a child (played by a ten-year-old girl with Down’s Syndrome) who literally pulls memories and images from her backpack. The play is nonverbal, using music and movement as the main communication channels.
